"...a convincing Romantic hero dispensing a beautiful, lightly vibrato-ed star-quality tenor tone: this is a career to follow..." (Opera News)

Mexican tenor Diego Silva, one of the most promising tenors of his young generation, gave his New York Metropolitan Opera debut in 2016/2017 as Tybalt in "Roméo et Juliette".

Mr. Diego, recipient of the Placido Domingo Scholarship from Sociedad International de Valores de Arte Mexicano, won, among his many awards, first prize (along with the special and public prize) of the Carlo Morelli Singing Competition, first prize at the Giargiari Competition, second prize at the Mario Lanza competition, and was a finalist in Maestro Domingo’s Operalia World Competition held in Verona in 2013.

Recent highlights include a.o. Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte", Il Duca in "Rigoletto" and Alfredo in "La Traviata" for the Luzerner Theater and for the Theater Orchester Biel, Rodolfo in "La Bohème" at Opera de Metz, and the title role of "Faust" for the Savonlinna Opera Festival, a role he has also covered at the Paris Opera.

In 2019/20, Mr. Silva will be covering Des Grieux in "Manon" for the Metropolitan Opera, and will give his debut as Arturo in "Lucia di Lammermoor" at Monte-Carlo Opera, and can be heard as Lensky in "Eugene Onegin" at Luzerner Theater. Further ahead, he will make his house debut with Den Jyske Opera as Duca in "Rigoletto".
