Sergey Ababkin, Tenor

First prize winner of the 2011 International "Romansiada" Competition in Moscow, the young Russian tenor Sergey Ababkin (*1991)  is a graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Y. M. Marusin) and has been a member of the International Opera Studio at State Opera Hamburg since 2016/17.
There he was heard in roles such as Priester and Monostatos (Mozart “Die Zauberflöte”); Jude (Strauss “Salome”); Commissaire (Poulenc “Dialogues des Carmelites”); Normanno (Donizetti “Lucia di Lammermoor”); Yeroshka (Borodin “Prince Igor”), Knappe (Wagner “Parsifal”); Goro (Puccini “Madama Butterfly”); Der Narr (Berg “Wozzeck”); Ajax (Offenbach “La Belle Helene”); Gefangener (Beethoven “Fidelio”); and Der Steuermann (Wagner “Der fliegende Hollaender”).
In 2017, Mr. Ababkin sang the role of Rodolfo in La Bohème in Daegu, 
Korea. 
His further repertoire includes Lykov (Rimsky-Korsakov "The Tsar's Bride"); Lensky(Tchaikovsky "Eugene Onegin"); the young Gypsy (Rachmaninoff "Aleko"); Antonio (Prokofiev "Betrothal in a Monastery"); Vodemon (Tchaikovsky “Iolanta”); and Duca di Mantova (Verdi “Rigoletto”).
